March 13-- SALT LAKE CITY-The Utah Jazz used a hot-shooting first quarter to fuel a 110-79 thumping of the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

The Jazz blazed to a 42-21 first-quarter lead on 81 percent shooting to easily win its 19th of 21 games-a tear that started with an overtime victory at Little Caesars Arena on Jan. 24 in Detroit.

The Jazz (38-30) cruised from that point Tuesday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena, the first of the Pistons' six-game trip against Western Conference opponents.

Donovan Mitchell, who the Pistons passed to select Luke Kennard in last June's NBA draft, scored 13 points on 4-for-10 shooting.

But center Rudy Gobert dominated with 22 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots as the Jazz finished at 55.3 percent shooting.

Former Piston Jonas Jerebko scored 16 points off the bench.

Blake Griffin (13 points) had a rough shooting night against the dominant defense, finishing 5 for 16 from the field.

Andre Drummond had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Kennard scored 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting in 36 minutes off the bench.

The Pistons (30-37) shot 37.5 percent and have lost eight of 10 since the NBA All-Star break.
