Sony Launches $100 Million Global Relief Fund to Combat COVID-19 The company announced its plan on April 2. According to Kenichiro Yoshida, President and CEO of Sony, the global relief fund will focus on providing aid to three groups. Those groups include front-line medical professionals, children and educators and members of the creative community. Kenichiro Yoshida, via statement In terms of medical aid, Sony intends to donate $10 million to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund along with other organizations. The company also intends to help support activities that prevent the spread of and contribute to the treatment of COVID-19. Sony plans to “leverage its technologies” to support educational opportunities for children negatively impacted by COVID-19. In terms of the creative community, Sony promised to “seek ways to support” artists that have been impacted by the global shutdown of live events and productions.

Cruise Ship With Sick Passengers Allowed to Dock in Florida A Holland America cruise ship, the Zaandam, and its sister ship, the Rotterdam, will dock in Florida on Thursday. Four people have died so far on the Zaandam. At least two of the deaths were confirmed to be due to coronavirus. Nine other passengers have tested positive for COVID-19, and 179 more people have flu-like symptoms. The Zaandam left Buenos Aires on March 7 for a two-week trip originally scheduled to end in Chile on March 21. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis previously said that he did not want the ships' passengers "dumped" there. DeSantis changed his stance on Wednesday, saying that he wants "everyone to be safe." Nine passengers will be taken to a local hospital, and 45 sick passengers will remain on board. More than 300 Americans are on board the two ships, including 49 Florida residents.

LUIS ACOSTA/AFP via Getty Images Passengers onboard Holland America's MS Rotterdam cruise ship are set to undergo health checks and processing by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement today, according to a letter that was sent to healthy Rotterdam passengers on Tuesday. The guests will not get to leave the ship Tuesday, according to the letter, which was viewed by Business Insider. The letter stated that passengers should pack their checked luggage so that it can be picked up Tuesday, but that they should keep enough clothing and toiletries for at least two more nights in their staterooms.
