Dec. 01-- Dec. 1--Trent Forrest scored 17 points to lead Florida State to a 63-60 overtime victory over Purdue in the Emerald Coast Classic championship game on Saturday night at Niceville, Fla.
The Seminoles (7-1) outscored the Boilermakers 5-2 in the extra period by getting their points at the free-throw line including the final two with only one second left to play.
Purdue (4-3), trailing by only a point, took several potentially winning shots in the last minute but was unable to score against a stifling Florida State defense.
Matt Haarms led the Boilermakers with 16 points followed by Jahaad Proctor with 12 and Eric Hunter Jr. with 10.
Indiana 64, S. Dakota State 50: Trayce Jackson-Davis had 19 points and 14 rebounds for his fourth straight double-double to lead Indiana at Bloomington, Ind.
Justin Smith added 18 points and eight rebounds as the Hoosiers completed a November sweep and improved to 8-0.
Indiana State 62, Missouri-St. Louis 55: Cooper Neese scored 19 points with four 3-pointers as Indiana State used a late run to beat Division II Missouri-St. Louis 62-55 at Terre Haute, Ind.
Christopher Agbo's free throw tied it at 43 with 9:01 to play and the Sycamores scored 10 unanswered points to pull ahead for good.
Tyreke Key had 16 points for Indiana State (3-4).
Evansville 70, IUPUI 64: DeAndre Williams had 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as Evansville won at Indianapolis.
IUPUI led by eight when Marcus Burk made a jumper for a 52-44 lead with 13:09 remaining in the game. Noah Frederking made back-to-back 3-pointers and the Purple Aces were within two at 52-50. John Hall added a 3-pointer with 10:38 remaining and Evansville (5-3) took the lead, 53-52.
Jaylen Minnett had 18 points for the Jaguars (2-6), whose losing streak reached four games.
No. 17 Tennessee 72, No. 20 VCU 69: Lamonte Turner made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift No. 17 Tennessee past No. 20 VCU in the Emerald Coast Classic third-place game.
Turner's big shot spoiled a dramatic comeback by the Rams, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half.
John Fulkerson led Tennessee (6-1) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Santos-Silva led VCU (6-2) with 22 points and De'Riante Jenkins had 15.
No. 25 Xavier 87, Lipscomb 62: For the first time this season, No. 25 Xavier got to use its entire bench.
Tyrique Jones had his fourth double-double of the season, Paul Scruggs scored 15 points, and the Musketeers recovered from their first loss by beating Lipscomb at Cincinnati.
The Musketeers (7-1) were coming off a 70-65 loss to Florida in the championship game of the Charleston Classic. Jones averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds during the tournament and kept up his dominance back at home.
Jones finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, leading a surge late in the first half that put Xavier in control. Naji Marshall scored nine consecutive points for Xavier in the second half and finished with 13 as the Musketeers piled up a season high in points.
